Day 1 - 2 Johannesburg
Arrive at OR Tambo International airport. We recommend visitors stay at the exclusive Sandton City suburb, today the financial hub of Southern Africa where you are within walking distance of the finest shopping centres in Africa including Sandton City and Mandela Square.

A visit to Gold Reef City, a former working goldmine dating back to 1886 is most interesting. Go fourteen levels down the goldmine, watch gold being poured, and experience life during the days of the gold rush. Close by is the architecturally interesting Apartheidsmuseum, packed with thoughtful, though often brutal, reminders of South Africa’s history.

Alternatively the Cradle of Mankind at the Sterkfontein Caves beckons you to step back three million years in time when our ancestors roamed the African Savannah. The nearby Lesedi cultural village enables the visitor to learn more of the village life of the Zulu, Ndebele, Sotho and other local tribes and the traditional dishes and tribal dancing are highly recommended.

Day 3 Long Tom Pass
Just 40 minutes driving from your hotel is Pretoria, the capital city, with its vast number of jacaranda trees, a wonderful sight in springtime. Visit the imposing sandstone Union Buildings where the president has his office. The Voortrekker Monument off the R28 provides a shrewd insight into the often violent past of South Africa. Drive east and overnight at the Long Tom Pass.
Day 4

Blydepoort.
Over the spectacular Long Tom Pass. Explore the historic restored gold mining town of Pilgrim's Rest and the picturesque towns of Graskop, Sabie and Hazyview. Make a short detour for the awesome view at God's Window, described as one of the most breathtaking views in Africa. Overnight in the Blyde River Canyon National Park, overlooking the gorge and the Three Rondavels outcrops.

Day 5 & 6 Thornybush
The road winds its way among the gigantic rock formations of the Drakensberg escarpment to the Thornybush Private Nature Reserve. Try to arrive in time for your first afternoon game drive to experience the African bush. These are conducted by expert rangers who will enthral you with their knowledge of the animals and their habits as well as the flora of the region. Bush walks, game drives, all meals and high tea are included in the cost.
Day 7 & 8 KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
We suggest you enter the Kruger National Park at Orpen Gate. Here you can experience not only the excitement of the Big Five of elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard but also wonder at the incredible bird life. Various game activities are offered including escorted day and night game drives and bush walks although the good roads allow you to explore the park at your own leisure. Overnight in one of the rest camps.
Day 9 JOHANNESBURG
An optional final early morning game drive before you leave the Park and return to Johannesburg.
